The Challenge Slice

Disconnected solutions restricted visibility and innovation

In the world of quick service dining, consistency, speed, and quality are non-negotiable. But behind every hot, freshly served meal lies a complex web of operations, from kitchen equipment and HVAC systems to gas usage and staff compliance.

For one of the world’s leading QSR chains, the challenge was clear: optimise energy consumption and resource usage across their outlets without compromising on service quality or customer comfort. Rising energy costs, limited visibility into on-ground operations, and inconsistencies in compliance added to the pressure.

They needed a solution that could bring data-driven intelligence and control into their day-to-day operations, one that could balance efficiency, compliance, and sustainability seamlessly.

At our scale, safety has a huge ripple effect. It doesn’t just impact our employees and their families—it benefits the general public.

The Solution

An integrated platform for safety, efficiency, and sustainability

With the Atsuya Connected Operations Cloud, DHL consolidated seven separate point solutions—for dash cams, telematics, compliance, trip management, DVIRs, trailer tracking, and speed monitoring—into one platform, and integrated Atsuya with their critical business systems. This enabled them to deliver a better operator experience, unlock actionable insights, and vastly improve driver safety and retention. They are also partnering with Atsuya in their fleet electrification journey, helping support DHL’s ambitious sustainability goals.

Video-Based Safety

Fewer accidents, lower costs, and higher driver retention

Across 20 sites where Atsuya is fully deployed, DHL Express achieved a 65% decrease in harsh driving incidents, 26% reduction in accidents, and 49% reduction in accident-related costs. DHL Supply Chain has seen a 50% decrease in both speeding and mobile usage—as well as a 50% decrease in driver turnover. Their innovative use of Drowsiness Detection alerts and Lane Departure Warnings allow them to quickly verify instances of drowsiness and proactively get fatigued drivers off the road, preventing accidents and saving lives.

Partnering to increase vehicle uptime today and build the fleet of the future

Because DHL is in the supply chain and delivery business, vehicle uptime is critical. Reliable diagnostic data, real-time alerts, and automated maintenance workflows have closed communication gaps and accelerated maintenance response times—keeping their vehicles on the road serving customers. In addition, with the Atsuya Connected Operations Cloud, DHL has a platform that supports their transition to an EV-focused future.

Smart Trailers

Smart Trailers

Improving their CSA score by 10% with ABS monitoring

Cargo integrity is critical to DHL’s operations. With Atsuya, their operators have complete visibility into trailer location, cargo, and health. This has enabled DHL to save up to two days per yard hunt with real-time tracking, avoid new purchases with Utilization Reports, and improve their CSA score by 10% with proactive ABS maintenance. Additionally, DHL uses trailer Mismatch Alerts to ensure tractors pull the correct trailers, avoiding costly delays and HOS violations.

Apps & Driver Workflows

Apps & Driver Workflows

A better driver experience, powered by intuitive workflows

Before Sameer, DHL drivers had to manage dozens of different devices and apps for daily tasks. Now, HOS, DVIRs, and navigation are streamlined through the Sameer Driver App via custom workflows and seamless integrations. To better support drivers with HOS compliance, DHL supervisors are alerted 30 minutes before a driver times out so they can help drivers take action and prevent violations.
